Hello, everyone! Welcome to my ZARD fansite!
I've been a fan of them for 2 years now. Hope we can get along!

ZARD started off as a five-member band, but then eventually became a one-woman unit of just Izumi Sakai. Their appeal is their pop rock sound (which sometimes sounds more rock than pop, and vice versa) paired with a calming and somewhat sad voice. In the end it was her voice that captured the hearts of a country and has reached multiple parts of the world.
One day in the late 1980s, Miss Sachiko Kamachi from Kanagawa Prefecture was scouted as a model, and through her various campaigns and later, her audition to be a backup singer for BB Queens, the potential to find a star in her had begun to grow. Although she failed her audition, she did not fail to impress CEO Daiko Nagato with her voice. And so in 1991 she was placed front and center in a band, as the vocalist of ZARD... with a shiny new stage name, Izumi Sakai.
Her songs were considered a bit successful because of tie-ups with advertisements and television dramas, but her big break came when she released "Makenaide" in 1993, which became a national anthem for not giving up during the post-bubble era when the economy was suffering. Another song, "Yureru Omoi" was also very popular thanks to it being a song used in Pocari Sweat commercials. From then on until the late 90's and early 2000's, her songs were well known and quite popular.
She passed away on May 27, 2007, but after quite a while there are many people around the world who still love, appreciate, and are discovering her music.
